Board Care
Follow the following steps to prolong the life and good looks of your hand-crafted wood pieces:
Cleaning
Do not soak the board or place in Dishwasher - This will warp and ruin the board
Clean immediately after use - Wash by applying hot water and mild dish soap to remove food residue
Sanitize - For hygiene (especially after cutting raw meat, fish, or pungent foods) spray or wipe with a solution of 1 tablespoon unscented bleach per gallon of water or a 1:1 mix of white vinegar and water
Dry Properly - Wipe off excess moisture with a clean towel. Allow to air-dry upright. Do not leave wet - moisture will breed bacteria and can crack wood
Store Smart - Keep in a dry, well-ventilated area. Avoid stacking wet boards to prevent mold.
Maintenance
Treat the board regularly with food-safe wax or oil - This will help keep the board seasoned and able to repel moisture. We recommend a wax. Look on our website for Board Butter. You can also order Walrus Oil Wood Wax for Cutting Boards on Amazon.
Apply wax to a clean, dry board like you would wax a car. Apply a small amount to a clean non-abraisive cloth and rub onto the board. Allow it to try for 15-30 minutes. Buff the board with a clean cloth.
